Project Description
- The project, funded by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), focuses on improving gender equality, safety, and well-being for women and girls in conflict-affected communities of Rakhine State, Myanmar. Running from October 2023 to September 2027, the intervention utilizes a women and girls-centered approach to prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and address underlying gender inequalities.
- We work to prevent GBV and reduce gender inequality by supporting women and girls with essential services and long-term solutions in central Rakhine State, ensuring inclusive access for all local communities.
Project Objectives
Our key objectives are to build a safer and more equitable environment for conflict-affected communities in Rakhine state:
- Empowerment & Prevention: To challenge harmful social norms by implementing progressive curricula like Peaceful Family Initiative (PFI), Girl Shine (GS), EMAP, and the upcoming SASA.
- Response & Care: To provide confidential and professional GBV Case Management and Psychosocial Support (PSS) for survivors through the established Women and Girls’ Wellness Center (WGWC).
- Awareness: To increase knowledge of GBV core concepts, sexual violence, early marriage, and SRH among beneficiaries.
